Introduction

The EDS-P510 series Gigabit managed redundant Ethernet switches come standard with 4 10/100BaseT(X) 802.3af (PoE) compliant Ethernet ports and 3 combo Gigabit Ethernet ports. The EDS-P510 switches provide up to 15.4 watts of power per PoE port, and allow power to be supplied to connected devices (such as surveillance cameras, wireless access points, and IP phones) when AC power is not readily available or is cost-prohibitive to provide locally. The EDS-P510 switches are highly versatile, and their SFP fiber port can transmit data up to 80 km from the device to the control center with high EMI immunity. The Ethernet switches support advanced management and security features. The EDS-P510 series is designed especially for security automation applications such as IP surveillance, and gate of entry systems, which can benefit from a scalable backbone construction and Power-over-Ethernet support.

FAQ

Is Your Network Infrastructure Ready for the IIoT?

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) trend aims to improve efficiency and productivity by connecting different devices together as well as collecting and analyzing large volumes of data to offer accurate information. However, before reaping the benefits of the IIoT, users need to ensure that the correct infrastructure is in place. To make sure your network is ready for the IIoT, check out five of the most frequently mentioned questions........more

White Paper

Ensure Nonstop IP Surveillance with an Optimized Industrial Ethernet Network

If your CCTV system uses multicast transmission over a redundant ring, then even if your ring redundancy protocol is able to activate backup paths in a fraction of a second when a disconnection occurs, it could still take more than 2 minutes for your multicast video streams to recover. This is because a number of different protocols—including IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) and PIM-DM (Protocol Independent Multicast - Dense Mode)—are implemented to transmit your video packets around the network, and these standard protocols are not designed for mission-critical applications. In this white paper, we show how implementing an appropriate non-standard proprietary protocol can optimize your network for video stream transmission, and in this way overcome IGMP’s sluggishness.........more
